I am pleased to announce that I have renewed my Membership with the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL).
This year marks the beginning of my fifth year as a member which means that next year I’ll be able to apply for a Chartered Linguist status. I cannot wait!

The CIOL is the UK’s Royal Charter body for linguists and language professionals. It was founded in 1910 and it has over 5000 members worldwide.
Her Majesty the late Queen Elizabeth II granted the CIOL the Royal Charter in 2005 and this “represented a significant step forward in the recognition of language professionals and linguists in all areas of work and public life” (CIOL website – History of CIOL). You can view the Royal Charter here.
The CIOL’s purpose as stated on their website:
To contribute towards international goodwill by encouraging the effective study and practice of languages; to promote the exchange and dissemination of information on matters of interest to linguists and persons interested in the study of languages; and to provide means of recognising persons who are qualified as linguists in the professions, the arts, the sciences, industry, trade and commerce.
Certified Translations
You may already know that if you need to submit the translation of an official document, you need to provide a Certified Translation. Members of professional associations like the ITI are able to provide such a service.
By using a translator recognised by a professional body, you can reduce the risk of errors and omissions in your important documents.
As per government guidelines, a certified translation is a translation accompanied by a certificate of accuracy signed by the translator. The information to include in the certificate are:
- A statement that the translation is true and accurate to the original
- The date of the translation
- The name and contact details of the translator
Please, remember that there is no such thing as an ‘official translator‘. However, by hiring a professional translator, you can ensure that your documents are well taken care of.
Why choose me?
I have been a member of the CIOL since 2019 as well as working with a Notary Public as both a legal assistant and translator. I specialise in legal and certified translations accepted by the UK authorities and Consulates in the UK as well as abroad.
Send me a message or email me your document to receive a free and detailed quote.
I look forward to working with you!
